Dr Scott Bissaker
Born and raised locally in Black Hill, Scott developed a passion for the Veterinary industry from an early age. Following school, he moved to Sydney where he completed his Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Escaping the big smoke, Scott started his veterinary career in the Hunter before becoming a full time vet then eventually Director of Morpeth Veterinary Hospital. Scott continues to pursue and develop his keen interest in large animal medicine and small animal orthopaedics. Outside work, Scott spends much of his time enjoying the outdoors with his wife, Lorinda, two children, Arabella and Ashton, and two dogs.

Dr Stuart Lavelle
Stuart grew up on the land, in the small country town of Temora, NSW. He joined the Morpeth Veterinary team in 2017. Stuart holds a double degree in Veterinary Biology and Veterinary Science from Charles Sturt University. He has a passion for all things mixed practice, but a particular interest in small animal surgery, and equine and cattle medicine. Outside of work hours you will find Stuart joined at the hip to his boxer, “Pablo”. He loves cooking, going to the gym and watching his favourite footy team – the dragons.

Dr Bastian Ness
Bastian (aka Bas) originated from chilly Melbourne before trekking across the country to complete his Bachelor of Science/Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University in Perth, WA. He has a strong interest in small animal surgery and neurology while he enjoys Muay Thai Kickboxing, hiking and cooking outside of work. Bas and his partner, whom is also a fellow Veterinarian, managed to rescue two Domestic Short Haired cats within their first week of working in the region. Ramble and Rumble have quickly settled into their new home and pampered lifestyle.

Dr Mia Ahyee
Mia graduated from The University of Sydney in 2022 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Moving from the Northern Beaches in Sydney, Mia now lives in the Hunter with Partner, adopted cat Bruno and two Golden Retrievers- Ben and Louie. Mia has veterinary interests in soft tissue surgery, radiology and equine medicine. Outside of work, Mia enjoys baking, going to pilates and going for walks with her golden boys.

Dr George Bryan
George was born in Northern England before migrating and being raised in Sydney. Having first completed a career with the Australian Royal Navy, George went back to University completing a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at The University of Sydney. George has a strong focus on surgery and emergency medicine while finds solace in physical activities. He is an avid runner, embracing the freedom and mental clarity that running provides. George nurtures the dream that one day The North Sydney Bears will return to the NRL competition.

Dr Kelly Scott-Smith
Kelly's journey in veterinary medicine started in McLaren Vale, SA. Initially, she worked as a Veterinary Nurse at a busy mixed practice clinic, where her passion for large animal work began. She then pursued further education at CSU in Wagga Wagga, where she graduated with first-class honours in Veterinary Biology/Veterinary Science. Throughout her academic years, Kelly's enthusiasm for veterinary care extended to cow medicine and small animal cardiology.
Outside of work, Kelly spends her time with her partner Joel and her two chocolate Labradors, Molly and Griffin exploring the outdoors and all the beautiful surroundings of the Hunter Valley.

Sheree - Practice Manager
Born and bred Novocastrian, Sheree began working in the veterinary industry back in 2006 before joining the Morpeth team in July 2019 as Practice Manager. You will generally find her in our reception area always up for a chat and a laugh. Weekends are usually spent horse riding, playing netball, camping or hanging out with family and friends. She has two Ragdolls Isabelle and Taj, Spyro the Bearded Dragon, Lily the pony, Naty an ex race horse, Brindabella (pictured) and Mickey the palomino.

Kirsty - Nurse Manager
Joined our team in early 2020 as Head Nurse, after relocating from North Queensland. Kirsty is passionate about exceptional standards of care and customer service, thus setting the standard for our reception, surgical and hospital teams. Kirsty's immediate family is composed of Kenzie (Border Collie), Nipper (Warmblood Horse) and Matt (soon to be Husband). Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys spending time with family, horse riding and kayaking.

Bianca - Reception Team
A true local, Bianca calls East Seaham home and has worked as a Veterinary Nurse in the area for over 16 years. She enjoys all aspects of the job however these days will be predominantly found behind the front desk. Home life is busy on their hobby farm with a Bull Arab (Indy), two Cats (Sushi & Tuna), six Pigs, 15 Sheep and tropical Fish

Heidi - Reception Team
Born and raised in the Northern NSW township of Casino, Heidi has since made the Hunter her home. Heidi brings 23+ years of industry experience and loves her role in reception and customer service. Much of her time outside of work is spent with her two teenage children enjoying the outdoors, kyaking, fishing, horse riding and exploring. Heidi's beloved pets include Ringo (Foxie), numerous chickens, two ponies, sheep and an Alexandrine Parrot.

Sarah - Nursing Team
Sarah joined our team as a Veterinary Nurse Student and Animal Attendant in 2020. Sarah completed her studies in 2021 and concreted her role as apart of our qualified Nursing team. Sarah has grown up around animals and it has been a life long dream to help nurse the sick and injured back to health. During her free time, she enjoys camping, socialising with friends and caring for her three cats, Daisy, Unlani and Arbi, and Dog, Sam.

Tayla - Nursing Team
Tayla joined the MVH team in 2021 as apart of her Cert IV Vet Nursing studies before becoming employed with us. Tayla has always loved animals and has found herself right at home with caring for and working with an array of different species. When not at the clinic, Tayla is running her own horse business and riding her horse Rolley. Tayla household consists of numerous horses, 7 cats (Coco, Simba, Willow, Wilson, Marley, Lulu and Molly), 2 dogs (Tyson & Bella) and a Fiancé, Toby.

Renai joined our team in 2020. She grew up in Port Stephens with a variety of animals, however currently, her immediate family consists of her rascal rescue cats, Jelly Bean and Biscuit, and Husband, Luke. In her downtime she likes to rock climb and read.

Courtney - Nursing Team
Originally from Newcastle, Courtney spent much of her young adult life travelling the country side as a Jillaroo at some of Australia's biggest stations in NSW, NT, QLD, SA and WA. She has 5 working Kelpies that travelled with her and enjoyed life on the farm, mustering and drafting. We are fortunate that Courtney has settled back in the Hunter and has been apart of our Nursing team since 2019.

Jorja - Nursing Team
Jorja joined the team as a nursing student in 2023 and completed her studies mid 2024. She enjoys working with both large and small animals. Outside of the clinic Jorja enjoys time on her families small farm raising beef cattle, chickens and rabbits! Jorja's pets include two ferrets, Jasper & Bug, a cocker spaniel named Magnus & a beef cow x named Mabel.

Kate - Nursing Team
Kate started studying her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing at the start of 2024 and is currently working with the nursing team as an animal attendant. Kate has always dreamt of working with animals! In her free time, Kate enjoys socialising, listening to music and spending time with her two border collies, Rusty and Sydney!
